CPPCA Awards

To be awarded to a person working in an adult institution who has made a significant contribution to the field of corrections and/or has exhibited exemplary job performance.

To be awarded to a person working in a juvenile institution who has made a significant contribution to the field of corrections and/or has exhibited exemplary job performance.

To be awarded to a person working in a juvenile institution within a county of 50,000 or less population and who has made a significant contribution to the field of corrections and/or has exhibited exemplary job performance.

Deputy Probation Officer of the Year

To a probation officer working with adults or juveniles who has made a significant contribution to the field of corrections and/or has exhibited exemplary job performance.

Deputy Probation Officer of the Year (Small Counties)

To a probation officer working with adults or juveniles within a county of 50,000 population or less and who has made a significant contribution to the field of corrections and/or has exhibited exemplary job performance.

Parole Agent of the Year

To a parole agent, state or county, working with adults or juveniles who has made a significant contribution to the field of corrections and/or has exhibited exemplary job performance.

Judicial Award

To be awarded to a judge who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in California Corrections during the past year.

Legislator of the Year

To be awarded to a legislator who has been significantly involved in legislation, which has enhanced corrections in California during the past year.

Ruth Rushen Award

To be awarded to a person working in CDCR who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication and who has significantly contributed to make a difference in the field of corrections.

Lester J. Haye Award

To be awarded to a member in good standing of CPPCA, for writing an article, published in an established medium during the past year, which has significantly contributed to the advancing general understanding, increasing professional knowledge or stimulating increased effectiveness related to the prevention and/or correction of delinquency and crime.

University of Southern California Award

To be awarded to a person who, for a period of at least two years, demonstrates interest in and contributes significantly to the correctional field in California.

James Rowland Correctional Victim Services Award

To be awarded to a victim services program or an individual working in a federal, state, or local corrections agency located in California who has, for at least two years, made significant and exemplary contributions to crime victim services delivered through, or provided by, a correctional agency in keeping with the example and legacy of James Rowland.

John B. Clark Award

To be awarded to an individual, group, or committee for outstanding contributions to the field of corrections.

Carolyn Connor Memorial Award

This is presented each year to a person who exemplifies enthusiastic support of CPPCA and dedication to the field of probation.

Greg Smith Memorial Award

This is presented each your to the outstanding, acting, Regional Vice President.

Arlyn Webster, Spirit of Service Award

This is presented each year to a CPPCA member who is line staff or first line supervisor, still represented by the rank and file local who exemplifies commitment to CPPCA, fellow officers, personal development and education.

President's Award

This is presented by the President of the Association if, in their discretion, there is an individual(s), organization(s) or entities deserving of exemplary acknowledgement.

Recruiter(s) of the Year Award

This award is presented to every member who recruits 25 or more new members during the year or, for smaller chapters, those identified as outstanding recruiters by the appropriate Regional Vice President. For purposes of this award, ‘during the year’ shall man from the start of the January 1, until the beginning of the month before the conference, August 1. New members are asked to complete the ‘recruited by’ line on the membership application. (Members who rejoin after having been away from membership for a year or more are to be considered new members.)

Certificate of Appreciation/Recognition

This may be presented to anyone who, in the opinion of the Association President, and/or Awards committee, has contributed to the advancement of the Association, or the field of corrections.

Chapter Member of the Year Award

Awarded to the member of each CPPCA chapter who, in the opinion of the chapter membership, has made the most significant contribution to the chapter during the year. Each chapter is to select its Chapter Member of the Year and transmit the name to the Awards Committee.

Kirkpatrick Professional Development Award

Awarded to a correction practitioner who, over the period of three years or more, has made a significant contribution to professional development in the field of corrections by;
1.Serving on committees engaged in the planning, organizing and implementation of training conferences, symposia and/or seminars.

2.Participating as a speaker, panelist or recorder in other supportive functions at training conferences, symposia and/or seminars.

3.Assisting in the development of educational programs and/or courses in institutions of higher learning, including training academies, which contribute to professional development in the field of corrections.

4.Advocating professional correctional practice in appearance before citizen groups, in other public forums or in dealing with the print or electronic media.

5.Voluntarily working on projects, which significantly contribute to professional development of corrections practice.

Hall of Fame Award

Awarded to CPPCA members who have greatly and unquestionably impacted CPPCA and thus, the field of corrections to which their support and contributions have a lasting impression and have inspired others towards greatness.
