Online Conference Series!
Due to on-going concerns of COVID-19 and limiting in-person events, CPPCA has decided to postpone the Annual Training Conference until September 2021 (same location in Newport Beach).
CPPCA will now be offering an Online Conference Series, OCS. The Online Conference Series (OCS) will offer two 2-hour sessions weekly for 4 hours of STC training and some 8 hour training sessions for 8 hours of STC. The OCS will start on August 4 and continue weekly through October 2020 and will be held using the Zoom platform. Zoom is available to access on a mobile device and a desktop computer. Video (webcam) capabilities are preferred but not required.
Pricing: 4-Hour Trainings are $75 Tuition & $25 Registration fee & 8-hour Trainings are $150 Tuition & $50 Registration Fee

Summary: This training will provide the student with the required topics mandated Senate Bill 29. Field training officers are required to have 8 hours of crisis intervention behavioral health training.

Interacting Effectively with the Mentally Ill - 4 hours STC and presented by Embassy Consulting Services
Summary: Law Enforcement and Jail Personnel are dealing more and more with a growing mentally ill population. This course is designed to provide students with the tools necessary to identify individuals who may be suffering from mental illness. The course will also provide students with active listening skills in order to have a safe disposition.

Building Law Enforcement Leaders through Ethical Decision Making - 4 hours STC and presented by Embassy Consulting Services.
Summary: This course, designed specifically for law enforcement professionals, will explore the current climate that exists between the community and law enforcement. This class will provide participants with knowledge and additional tools, in order to develop effective decision-making skills when confronted with critical ethical dilemmas.

Summary: People who develop their communication, interpersonal and human relation skills are able to interact more effectively with others. They also make better decisions and handle and manage conflict better. This course will provide participants with tools and strategies in order to build and maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace and community.

Are we Training Our Staff to Fail; Revisioning Staff Training - 4 hours STC and presented by Collaborative Resolution Services, Inc.
Summary: This training will discuss the current culture in corrections, its impact on staff, and how the current training helps to create this culture. Then it will look at the typical training design and content, and what is missing from it. Next, an approach will be presented on how to move the work culture into the 21st century given current research, as well as the role training can play in this transformation. Finally, a specific training design will be presented that has proven successful in making this change happen in other correctional agencies.
